Moving insanity

So I think it went something like this...

August 18 - Chris announced he had gotten a job. A frenzy began, in order to decide exactly what school district we would go to (though luckily I had been researching this for a while). We had a couple of options, depending on where we could find a rental house.

August 21 - Ari and I flew to Seattle to find a rental property. I had a meltdown upon driving to our hotel. Outpouring of Facebook sympathy followed. Hurray for friends on Facebook. I found a house on the second day but kept looking anyway. Decided I had made the right choice, given the time frame.

August 25 - Flew home. Debated if Chris and Marcus would leave next day on road trip or if Chris would stay and Marcus would fly with me. Opted for the latter.

August 27 - Going-away party, courtesy of my friend Anna (and many guests). :( Was nice to see (almost) everyone. Still couldn't believe I wouldn't see them again for a long time! Packers arrived and packed most of our stuff.

August 28 - Left for Iowa, to see family again before move.

August 30 - Left Des Moines for Seattle. Checked into hotel in Bothell. Movers arrived in Muncie and emptied house.

August 31 - Registered Marcus for kindergarten and went shopping for school supplies and other necessities. Chris left Muncie by car with pets.

September 1 - Marcus started school. Still living in hotel. Bought air mattress and a few other things for camping in rental house.

September 2 - Checked out of hotel. Ordered Internet service. ;) Went a little crazy for a couple of days with no Internet, TV or anything else to do at the house (with two kids).

September 4 (late)- Chris arrived.

September 8 - Moving truck finally arrived.

Currently - Most stuff is still in boxes. I suppose this will be the case for a while. In some ways, this house doesn't have the space of our last one (like for bookcases), even though square footage is similar. There is no attic (that we can use) or garage. Fourth bedroom upstairs is acting as storage space.

September 13 - Chris starts work!

Wow! Crazy that you got everything done so quickly. We got one month's notice to move once and that was difficult without any kids. I hope you guys all end up enjoying Seattle. I'm just on the other side of the border and I love it here.
