To follow up on the previous post, I found this commentary while looking for Sarah Palin's response to her video (which I didn't find, but I'm sure it's out there somewhere). Alternet Yeah, the title is kind of a joke in this case, because the point of the article is that in spite of seeing that video (not to mention much worse abuse elsewhere), people will go ahead and eat that bird anyway. No surprise there. But hey, maybe a few people out there were turned off to eating turkey after watching it - which is something.
Anyway...my food plans today, after throwing together a quick menu last night (oh, and turning down an invite to a friend's house, because the husbands didn't really want to, bah), are the following: hot mulled cider, from The Barefoot Contessa; salad; stuffing, a recipe from Bittman's How to Cook Everything, which we really like; mashed potatoes and mac & cheese, both untried recipes from Burros' Cooking for Comfort; and raspberry-blueberry pie, featured here. I just noticed that I may have to find a different crust though, because I didn't buy sour cream. Damn. Oh well, there are endless pie crust recipes out there. BTW, I found a non-hydrogenated shortening, which makes me a happy camper! No trans fats here!
And finally, we have a new resident, as yet unnamed:
[snip cute little kitty picture]
She and Loki are still not getting along, but I remain optimistic. ;)

Hi there...Happy Thanksgiving from Lake Woebegone...I have a suggestion for your cat name...How about Memphis after my cat from long ago...She got her name from appearing about the time my folks got back from a cattle sale in Tennessee..She was also a tiger stripe like your new Lady...Just a suggestion...see ya...
