This and that

As it gets closer to the election day, I find myself getting more riled up. I really can't understand why anyone with any common sense (yes that is a jab) would want to vote for McCain and Palin. Maybe Obama and Biden are not the perfect candidates (I know my platform is a bit different than theirs) but they are miles better than McCain/Palin. I'm very nervous about what is going to happen if those two Republicans end up in the White House. It fills me with feelings of confusion. I identify fairly strongly with being American, and there are some cities/areas here I think I would love to live, but it's also very tempting to move someplace where the people actually get it. I thought the previous two election fiascos were bad enough, but if McCain wins, I have to think that the majority of Americans don't have a clue what is important.

But anyway...

In more mundane matters, I am trying to decide what to do about my yard. Last year, I had an overgrowth of some kind of weed, and I pulled a bunch of them (quite a bit of work) and planted new grass seed. This year, the crabgrass has totally taken over. I think large portions of the front yard are entirely crabgrass. From what I've read, this has largely to do with mowing technique. Somewhere along the line, I, or the guy we hired in July, scalped the lawn and set the stage for crabgrass to run wild (in theory anyway). Now I don't know what to do about it. I still don't want to spray everything. There are seedheads everywhere. I'm tempted to totally scalp and bag it all, and then plant more grass seed, but I don't know if that would work. Any tips?

No tips, sorry. I don't know my crabgrass from my bluegrass. :)

Oh.. yeah, about that blog..I viewed her pics with interest because well, let's face it, after 5 kids and all that belly fat, my belly will have some lose skin. I think you can tighten and tone some..and I figure I am just likely to get pregnant again anyways, but if you lose at a reasonable weight and have good skin integrity..you may just get lucky. I am not likely to be baring my midsection..but I really hope I don't have too much lose belly skin when it is all said and done. I am totally not getting surgery.
